National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah met President and Chancellor of the university Mohammed Shahabuddin on Sunday, 20 September 2026 at Bangabhaban and briefed him on the institution’s education, research and academic activities.
During the courtesy meeting, the Vice-Chancellor presented an overview of the university’s overall activities and informed the President about various initiatives taken over the past two years to bring changes to its academic and administrative operations.
A delegation led by Professor Dr ASM Amanullah included Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Ali Zinnah, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nazmul Hossain, Acting Dean of the School of Undergraduate Education Professor Dr Md Ashek Kabir Chowdhury, Registrar Molla Mahfuzur Al-Hossain, Director of the Regional Centre Coordination Office Md Aminul Akter and Director of the Internal Audit Department Md Jasim Uddin.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted initiatives including the establishment of district-based performing arts colleges, plans to set up colleges for students with disabilities, faster publication of examination results, greater emphasis on English and information and communication technology (ICT) education, nationwide teacher training programmes, expansion of technical and vocational education and joint initiatives with various national and international institutions.
He also briefed the President on measures taken by National University to improve the quality of education at colleges in remote areas.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin praised the initiatives of National University and expressed hope that necessary support would be provided to the university as its Chancellor to advance education reforms and development activities.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed the President about the university’s role in implementing various government decisions and initiatives. He highlighted ongoing efforts to make the education system more modern, employment-oriented and time-responsive through curriculum and syllabus reforms.
