Popular film star Bidya Sinha Mim is set to make her debut on the OTT platform Chorki, signing on for an original film that marks a new phase in her career. The actress finalised the agreement on December 13 at Chorki’s office, following her recent return from a short break in the Maldives.
The untitled film will be directed and produced by Kazi Asad, who previously worked with Chorki on the horror series ‘Adhunik Bangla Hotel’. Described as an emotional story, the project is scheduled to go into production later this month.
Speaking about the casting, Kazi Asad said Mim is a proven and talented performer who is often seen in glamorous roles. He added that the creative challenge lies in presenting her in a completely different character, something he believes audiences will find refreshing. This marks Asad’s second collaboration with Chorki, following his earlier success with the platform.
Mim said the story was the decisive factor behind her return to work after a relatively quiet period. She explained that while she receives many offers, she chooses projects carefully and often turns them down if the story or related factors do not feel right. After hearing the narration and reviewing Kazi Asad’s previous work for Chorki, she felt this was a project she needed to do.
Although she has not revealed details about her character, Mim hinted that the film will feature a significant surprise that unfolds through her character’s journey. She also expressed admiration for Chorki’s content, saying she regularly watches the platform’s series and films and hopes her first collaboration will resonate with viewers.
Chorki CEO Redwan Rony welcomed Mim to the platform, describing her as a powerful presence on the big screen and expressing confidence that audiences would experience the same impact in her OTT debut.
The film’s story has been written by Mahmudul Hasan Tipu, while the screenplay is jointly penned by Asaduzzaman Abir and Kazi Asad. Several other actors have already joined the project, with further casting announcements expected soon.
Mim also indicated that this Chorki film is just the beginning of a new chapter, revealing that more of her upcoming projects are likely to be announced in 2026.
