Despite a turbulent year for the entertainment industry, leading OTT platform Chorki pushed ahead with an ambitious slate of 27 titles in 2025. The line up included theatrical releases, original productions and new projects from both established and emerging creators.

The year opened with Sukorno Shahed Dhiman’s ‘Feu’, a Chorki Original inspired by the Morichjhapi massacre. Syed Ahmed Shawki followed with ‘Gulmohor’, marking his debut on the platform, while the mid year arrival of ‘Myself Allen Swapan’ Season 2 expanded one of Chorki’s most popular fictional universes.

Chorki CEO and filmmaker Redoan Rony noted that national circumstances affected the entire industry, including audience behaviour, making 2025 a particularly challenging period. Even so, he said the platform chose to move forward. As the leading Bangla language OTT service, the team prioritised quality and viewer trust over the scale of individual projects, and Rony added that this commitment to strong storytelling would continue through difficult times.

That approach was most apparent during Eid ul Azha, when Chorki released four major Eid blockbusters simultaneously. After their Eid ul Fitr theatrical runs, ‘Borbaad’, ‘Daagi’, ‘Jongli’ and ‘Chokkor 302’ premiered on the platform to meet demand from audiences in regions without functioning cinemas. Rony said the intention was to honour festival excitement and to support both mainstream and narrative driven films.

Chorki also co-produced four widely discussed theatrical releases in 2025. These included ‘Priyo Maloti’ featuring Mehazabien Chowdhury, Shakib Khan and Raihan Rafi’s ‘Taandob’, Tanim Noor’s hit film ‘Utshob’ and Afran Nisho’s second feature ‘Daagi’. The platform additionally released acclaimed works such as ‘Deyaler Desh’, ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’ and ‘Insaaf’.

Investment in young filmmakers increased throughout the year. Jahid Preetom’s ‘Ghumpori’ drew attention for newcomer Parasha Mahjabin, while ‘Little Miss Chaos’, directed by Mahmuda Sultana Rima with a young ensemble cast, signalled a rising new wave.

Five Flash Fictions also arrived from mostly emerging directors. Independent voices found a place too, including Proshoon Rahmaan’s ‘Dear Satyajit’ and Kamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Testimony of a Thread’.

The 2025 line up featured Raihan Rafi’s ‘Amalnama’ and Shihab Shaheen’s ‘Tomar Jonno Mon’, with the final release of the year, ‘Dimlight’ from the Ministry of Love project, arriving on December 10.

Bangla speaking audiences worldwide remain central to its mission, and the platform is now preparing a new slate for 2026, according to CEO Redoan Rony.
