Karan Johar is set to end his celebrity chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ after 22 years, with its ninth season confirmed as the final chapter.
The new season will premiere on JioHotstar on 14 October. Since its 2004 debut, the show has completed eight seasons and 161 episodes, featuring conversations with some of India’s biggest stars about relationships, friendships, marriages and controversies.
Johar said hosting the show had been deeply rewarding, but he now wants to focus on directing films and telling more stories.
The show began on Star World with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its first guests. It later moved to streaming, with Dharmatic Entertainment taking over production from Season 7.
A 2019 episode featuring cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul was removed after controversy over Pandya’s remarks about women.
Johar said the decision to end the show was “emotional and personal”.
