Banglalink has strengthened its nationwide network ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, aiming to handle a seasonal surge in travel and communication as millions return home to celebrate with family.

The move includes modernisation of more than 750 network sites over the past year, improving coverage, capacity and overall performance across the country, the operator said in a 16 March press release.

The upgrades are expected to support higher call volumes and data usage during Eid, when connectivity demand typically peaks across highways, transport hubs and rural areas.

Customers in upgraded locations can experience up to 35 per cent faster internet speeds, enabling smoother browsing, improved video calls and uninterrupted streaming services.

Banglalink has also introduced WiFi calling, or Voice over WiFi, allowing users to make and receive calls through internet connections in areas where mobile signals may be weaker, including indoor and high-rise environments.

“Eid is a special time when millions of people travel home to be with their loved ones and share moments that truly matter,” he said, referring to Banglalink Chief Technology and Information Officer Huseyin Turker.

He added that the network enhancements and new features are designed to ensure reliable connectivity so customers can stay connected with family and friends throughout their journeys.

The initiative reflects broader competition among telecom operators to improve service quality during peak festive periods, as digital communication becomes central to how people connect during holidays.
