The government has cancelled the appointment of Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Advocate Md Abul Hasan.
A notification in this regard was issued on Monday by the Solicitor Wing (GP-PP branch) of Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
According to the notification issued by order of President Shahabuddin, the appointment of Supreme Court lawyer Abul Hasan to the post of assistant attorney general has been cancelled, and he has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
AAG Abul Hasan had been appointed to the position on 28 August 2024.
In a related development, two other assistant attorney generals, Ahmad Musanna Chowdhury and Mujahidul Islam Shahin, who were also appointed on 28 August 2024 during the tenure of the interim government, submitted their resignation letters to the president through the Attorney General’s office on 2 April, citing personal reasons.
Prior to the resignation of these two officials, the attorney general’s office consisted of 230 assistant attorney generals and 103 deputy attorney generals.
