Mohammad Golam Mawla, a former office assistant of the High Court Division under Supreme Court, has been ordered to return Tk42 lakh to the government treasury after allegations of securing employment using fraudulent educational qualification certificates were proven.
According to an order issued by the High Court General and Establishment Section, because Mawla’s appointment was obtained on the basis of a fake certificate, his employment is deemed void from the very beginning.
Consequently, he is not entitled to receive any salary or allowances for the period of his service.
According to the order, Golam Mawla drew a total of Tk42,03,901 in salary and allowances during his service from 31 January 2007 to 31 December 2025. He has been directed to deposit the full amount into the government treasury through the Automated Chalan System within the next 30 days.
The order noted that following the proof of allegations in departmental case No 9/2021 filed against him during his service, Mohammad Golam Maowla was removed from service on 21 January under Rule 4(1)(f) of The Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court Division) Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1983.
Because his employment is considered void from inception, the salary and allowances received during his tenure were not rightfully his.
Deputy registrar (General and original jurisdiction) of the High Court Division signed the order on 15 September, and it was officially issued on 17 September.
