Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has announced that 10-bed kidney dialysis units will be established in all upazila hospitals across the country to ensure patients do not have to travel to Dhaka for treatment.
The minister also said all existing 50-bed hospitals will be upgraded to 100-bed facilities within the next six months. He emphasised that the government is committed to the overall development of the people, involving all ministries in various initiatives, including the distribution of sewing machines and wheelchairs.
Sakhawat made these remarks on Friday afternoon while distributing seeds, lemon saplings, and fertilisers among farmers at the Monohardi Upazila Parishad premises in Narsingdi.
The programme was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer MA Muhaimin Al Zihan. Notable attendees included District BNP Vice-President Sardar Tofazzal Hossain Liakat, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Aminur Rahman Sarkar Dolon
Also attend were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shajib mia, Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Badsha, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Runa Akter, along with other leaders of the BNP and its affiliate organisations.
Following the event, the minister visited the Upazila Auditorium to distribute financial incentives, corrugated iron sheets, and dry food as humanitarian assistance for the underprivileged and helpless.
