‘South Park’ is taking another swipe at Donald Trump, with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announcing a tongue-in-cheek name change to ‘South America’ ahead of Season 29.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the move mocks Trump’s push to rename geographical features with “America” in their titles.
Parker and Stone credited Apple and Google’s “bravery and patriotism” for adopting some changes on their maps, while calling parent company Paramount “a Skydance Capitulation”.
New Season 29 artwork features the ‘South America’ name, though it remains unclear whether the gag will continue. The show’s Trump focus is expected to remain.
The joke targets Trump’s Gulf of America and Lake America renaming efforts, and his suggestion to rename New Mexico as New America. A state cannot be renamed by executive order.
The announcement follows ‘South Park’s’ first Outstanding Animated Programme Emmy since 2013.
Its Trump character later appeared holding the Emmy with his trousers down, captioned, “You finally got your Emmy.” Trump has complained about never winning one for ‘The Apprentice’.
