Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has spoken out about the obstacles surrounding his India tour, claiming that several attempts were made to prevent his opening concert in Delhi. Despite the challenges, he has vowed to complete the remaining performances.
According to NDTV, the singer addressed the issue during an Instagram Live session after launching his Aura India Tour 2026 at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30 October.
He said his team faced difficulties while arranging the concert but declined to disclose the specific problems.
“I do shows all over the world. There are always problems. But when the India show starts, problems start, especially for me. I don’t know why,” he said.
Dosanjh also dismissed the criticism directed at him, saying he was aware that some people and news channels would mock him and create negative publicity.
However, he insisted that such reactions would not affect his career.
“I know a lot of people will make fun of me. Many news channels will also make fun of me and create negative energy. But no matter how much negative energy you create, I’m still here, baby. I’m not going anywhere,” he said.
The singer, who has spent 25 years in the entertainment industry, added that he would stop working only when he chose to do so.
He also clarified that his decision not to respond to every criticism or question should not be mistaken for fear.
The opening show of the tour faced uncertainty after Delhi Police initially withheld permission, citing security-related concerns and law-and-order commitments during the festive season.
Organisers BookMyShow Live later submitted revised plans covering security, traffic and crowd management, following which authorities cleared the event.
Rain and logistical challenges also affected preparations, but the concert went ahead. During the performance, Dosanjh thanked Delhi Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for ensuring the safety of concertgoers. He also invited a woman CRPF officer on stage and praised her service.
Addressing the audience, he said several people had tried to stop the show but assured fans that he would remain in India until December 20 to complete the rest of the tour.
The singer also spoke about his earlier decision to stay away from certain controversies, saying his silence did not mean he was afraid to stand up for a cause.
Referring to the criticism surrounding his remarks about being an artiste rather than a politician, he said people should not question Punjabis’ ability to fight for what they believe in.
During the same Instagram Live session, Dosanjh revealed that he had wanted to perform in Bihar but could not proceed because of concerns over crowd management.
He said organisers had faced similar difficulties when trying to arrange a concert there during his previous tour.
The singer explained that his performances attract massive audiences and require extensive logistical arrangements.
He said the authorities had asked whether he would take responsibility for managing the crowds, but he could not accept that responsibility.
Following the Delhi concert, Dosanjh is scheduled to perform in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata as part of the Aura India Tour 2026.
He has assured fans that the remaining shows will go ahead as planned.
