Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 61st birthday on 2 November with a musical surprise for fans, unveiling ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, the first song from his upcoming film King.
Released at midnight, the track features Khan and Deepika Padukone on screen, with Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi on vocals and Ed Sheeran delivering an English rap.
According to NDTV, the music video blends romance, dance and action, offering a glimpse of Khan’s character in the film. It opens with his dialogue: “Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de.”
Khan and Padukone appear together in several settings, including a beach and a café. The video also features action sequences and a shirtless appearance by Khan, who lip-syncs to Sheeran’s rap. Another dialogue at the end hints at the darker side of his character.
Sachin-Jigar composed the track, while Kumaar wrote the Hindi lyrics. Sheeran penned the English rap, and Piyush-Shazia handled the choreography. The song brings together Singh and Sheeran in a musical collaboration, with Bagchi also contributing vocals.
Khan announced the release on X with the lines: “Yeh Daur Ishq ka Naseeb Waalon ko milta hai… Jahan Barood ki Khushboo mein Gulab khilta hai… Of Love and other Battles….” He also shared the hashtag #LoveLikeAKing.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King reunites the filmmaker with Khan after their collaboration on Pathaan. Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures are producing the film.
The ensemble cast includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma.
King is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 December 2026.
