Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain on Wednesday said the government plans to gradually introduce dialysis facilities for kidney patients at all district and upazila hospitals across the country.
Speaking to journalists after visiting Rajbari District Sadar Hospital, the minister said the services would be expanded in phases to ensure patients in rural and remote areas can access treatment closer to their homes.
He said the government is committed to bringing healthcare services to the doorstep of the people.
Sakhawat Husain said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has allocated necessary resources in the national budget to strengthen the healthcare sector, expressing hope that dialysis services will eventually be established at all district and upazila levels nationwide.
“We aim to expand kidney dialysis services across district and upazila hospitals so that people from remote areas can receive treatment at a lower cost,” he said.
The minister added that all required preparations have already been completed in 10 hospitals under the initiative.
During the visit, Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parveen, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manjur Morshed, Civil Surgeon SM Masud, and Rajbari District Sadar Hospital Superintendent Md Abdul Hannan were present.
