Dhallywood actress Bobby Haque has fallen victim to a major burglary at her residence in the capital’s Kafrul area, with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth nearly Tk 85.7 lakh reportedly stolen.
The incident took place on Tuesday at the actress’s own flat located in the eastern Monipur area under Senpara Parbata in Kafrul.
Confirming the matter, Kafrul Police Station Investigation Officer Rubel Mallik said a case has already been filed against unidentified individuals in connection with the theft.
According to family sources, Bobby’s mother is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj while her sisters live in Australia. As a result, the actress had been staying alone at the flat.
Bobby reportedly left home on May 25 to participate in the shooting of a new project. Later on Tuesday night, she learned about the burglary after receiving a phone call from her housemaid.
After rushing back home, the actress found one of the three wardrobes in her bedroom open, with household belongings scattered across the room.
Initial investigation revealed that the thieves entered the apartment by cutting through the window and balcony grills.
The stolen valuables reportedly include five pairs of gold bangles, seven pairs of earrings, three necklaces, eight lockets, 12 gold chains, seven diamond nose pins, five expensive wristwatches of different brands and Tk 6 lakh in cash.
Police said the total estimated value of the stolen property stands at around Tk 85 lakh 70 thousand.
The incident has left Bobby mentally distressed. According to her statement, the house remained empty due to her shooting commitments and the absence of her family members abroad, allowing the burglars to carry out the theft.
Soon after discovering the incident, the actress sought assistance from law enforcement agencies. Police said efforts are underway to identify the culprits and recover the stolen valuables.
