Social welfare organisation Faruk Morol Foundation has taken an initiative to spread the joy of Eid-ul-Adha among underprivileged and low-income people in Jashore by distributing sacrificial meat to thousands of families.
On Friday, the second day of Eid-ul-Adha, the foundation organised a large-scale qurbani programme in the Basundia Gaidgachi area of the district.
As part of the initiative, 17 cows were sacrificed simultaneously and the meat was distributed among nearly 5,000 low-income and general residents in an organised manner.
Special security measures were taken to ensure smooth distribution of the meat. Alongside members of the police administration and Ansar, a team of young volunteers from the Faruk Morol Foundation actively worked on the ground throughout the programme.
Due to proper management and supervision, the distribution process was completed peacefully without any untoward incident or disorder.
Recipients expressed happiness after receiving the meat, saying it had become difficult for many families to purchase meat at current market prices. They said the initiative had added extra joy to their Eid celebrations.
Speaking about the programme, Faruk Morol, founder of the Faruk Morol Foundation, said the organisation’s main objective was to bring smiles to the faces of helpless and disadvantaged people.
He said although 17 cows were sacrificed this Eid, the foundation’s humanitarian activities continue throughout the year.
According to him, the organisation regularly distributes rice among poor families every month and also provides clothing to underprivileged people during Eid festivals.
Faruk Morol expressed hope that the foundation would continue its welfare activities in the future with the support of local people.
Local elites and members of civil society praised the humanitarian initiative and urged affluent members of society to come forward in support of people in need.
