Prime Minister’s Adviser on the ministries of Finance and Planning, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, today said the upcoming national budget would be youth- and business-friendly with a focus on creating employment opportunities through the establishment of new industries and factories.
He said many plots at the BSCIC industrial estate remain unused due to delays in allocation caused by bureaucratic complexities, which continue to hamper industrial production.
The adviser made the remarks while addressing a view-exchange meeting organised by the district administration at the Rajbari Municipality Auditorium as the chief guest.
He said removing such obstacles and making the industrial estate fully operational would help create jobs for the country’s young population.
Emphasising the need for the physical and mental development of young people through sports initiatives such as “Notun Kuri Sports”, Titumir said greater attention should be given to identifying talented athletes from union and upazila levels alongside promoting culture and human values.
Describing hardworking youths as the nation’s future asset, he said the government aims to make them self-reliant through the provision of low-interest loans.
He also stressed the importance of reopening closed industries to reduce unemployment among young people.
Calling for an industrial revolution, Titumir said gender inequality must be eliminated and more women entrepreneurs should be encouraged and supported.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam, speaking as a special guest, said the authorities would soon hold discussions with local residents to coordinate development plans for the district.
He said public opinions and suggestions would be taken into consideration in resolving long-standing local problems.
The meeting was chaired by Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parveen and attended by public representatives, distinguished citizens and district-level officials.
Among others, Rajbari-2 constituency Member of Parliament Harunur Rashid, local dignitaries Abdus Salam Mia, Mohammad Manjur Morshed, Dr SM Masud and Enamul Kabir were present.
Freedom fighters, business leaders, student representatives, journalists and teachers from various schools and colleges also attended the programme.
