The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the circular for the 51st Special BCS examination to recruit 5,000 doctors for the government health service.
Of the total posts, 4,700 will be for assistant surgeons and 300 for assistant dental surgeons under the BCS health cadre.
Candidates with MBBS, BDS or equivalent degrees will be eligible to apply for the posts.
Online applications will open at 10am on 1 October and can be submitted until 6pm on 25 October.
The application fee has been set at Tk 200.
The special BCS examination is tentatively scheduled to take place in November.
The recruitment comes as the government seeks to strengthen the health sector by filling vacant posts in government hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Earlier, the 49th BCS was also held as a special examination, aimed at recruiting 683 teachers for government colleges.
The PSC issued the circular for the 50th BCS, a regular examination, on 26 November last year. Its written examination results have since been published, with 6,165 candidates qualifying.
