The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice to producer Shahriar Karim Bhuiyan, also known as Shahriar Shakil, seeking a detailed disclosure of his assets.
Shahriar, the producer of the recent Eid release ‘Domm’, is the owner of Alpha-i Studio and a co-founder of SVF-Alpha-i Productions. The directive was issued in an order signed by ACC Director Md Kamruzzaman on February 5.
According to the notice, the commission has found indications that Shahriar may have accumulated substantial assets beyond his known sources of income.
The producer has been instructed to submit a comprehensive statement of all movable and immovable assets, liabilities and sources of income held in his name, as well as those of his spouse and dependants, within 21 working days of receiving the notice.
The ACC has warned that failure to comply within the stipulated time, or the submission of false information, may lead to legal action.
ACC Assistant Director for Public Relations Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into multiple allegations, including the concealment of assets. He said the notice has been issued to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry. Shahriar may be summoned for questioning if required and further legal steps will be determined based on the findings.
The producer has previously faced allegations from industry stakeholders regarding the laundering of funds abroad, which sparked protests at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.
Shahriar’s production credits include ‘Toofan’, ‘Taandob’ and ‘Daagi’, featuring high-profile actors such as Shakib Khan and Afran Nisho.
