Leaders of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council paid homage at the mass grave to those killed during the July uprising at Rayer Bazar Graveyard in the capital Thursday morning.
Following their visit, General Secretary of the Student Rights Council Nazmul Hasan strongly criticised the interim government, stating, “The caretaker government has failed to fulfill the aspirations of July. Justice for the killings during the July uprising and proper treatment for the injured remain unaddressed, and we hope that the caretaker government will clarify to the nation what exactly they have managed to get done in the last 11 months.”
Nazmul mentioned that, in the final 10 days of July last year, 50-60 unidentified bodies were buried at Rayer Bazar Graveyard. They visited the site to pray for the salvation of these martyrs’ souls.
Among those present were Senior Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Student Rights Council Newaz Khan, President of Jagannath University Student Rights Council AKM Rakib, President of Dhaka College Student Rights Council Noman Khan, President of Bangla College Student Rights Council Ashik Chowdhury, and Senior Vice-President of Titumir College Student Rights Council Selim.
The Student Rights Council leaders demanded immediate recognition of the martyrs and their families and the administering of proper medical care for the injured.
They also called for the prompt declaration of the July Charter.
