Chattogram Customs House, the country’s largest customs station, will operate clearance activities 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays, to ensure faster release of imported goods and uninterrupted supply chain operations.

The decision was announced in a notification signed by Chattogram Customs House Assistant Commissioner and spokesperson Sharif Mohammad Al Amin on Sunday.

According to the notification, customs clearance activities will continue during weekly holidays and public holidays as part of measures to expedite the release of import consignments.

“Keeping customs operations active during holidays will ensure that the clearance process for import consignments remains uninterrupted,” he said.

He added that the initiative would help maintain the momentum of import activities centred around Chattogram Port and ensure smooth movement of goods through the national supply chain.

The move is expected to facilitate faster clearance of imported goods arriving through Chattogram Port by reducing delays caused by weekly and public holidays, Al Amin added.
