John Travolta will make his directorial debut with ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’, which is set for a world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes Premiere Selection.
The Apple Original Films production is adapted from a 1997 book written and illustrated by Travolta, inspired by his childhood and lifelong passion for aviation.
The story follows young aviation enthusiast Jeff and his mother on a cross-country flight to Hollywood. What begins as a simple journey becomes a nostalgic adventure, with memorable encounters and stopovers that shape Jeff’s future.
The cast includes newcomer Clark Shotwell as Jeff, Kelly Eviston‑Quinnett as his mother, along with Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann.
Produced by Travolta’s JTP Films and Kids at Play, the premiere will take place at the Debussy Theatre, with Travolta in attendance, ahead of the film’s global Apple TV release on May 29. The festival did not immediately confirm the specific premiere date.
Travolta, a licensed pilot since age 22, has long been passionate about flying, a theme central to the film. This will mark his fourth film brought to Cannes.
The 79th Festival de Cannes opens on May 12 with Pierre Salvadori’s period comedy ‘La Vénus électrique’, following the opening ceremony hosted by actress Eye Haïdara.
