Bangladesh and China have expressed their shared commitment to accelerating and strengthening their existing military and defence cooperation.
This follows a courtesy call paid by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam on Thursday at Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, discussions focused specifically on accelerating existing defence ties through practical initiatives.
Both sides held highly fruitful talks on providing advanced professional training, facilitating military education exchanges, and boosting the technical capabilities of the armed forces members of both countries.
Both representatives expressed optimism that expanding cooperative training and mutual experience-sharing to tackle modern military challenges would move their bilateral relations a step forward.
The defence adviser recalled the long-standing historical friendship, strategic partnership, and China’s cooperation in the developmental progress of the two nations, expressing hope that China’s cooperation would increase further in the future.
Reiterating China’s stance, Ambassador Yao Wen pledged his country’s continued support for the modernisation of Bangladesh’s defence sector.
The meeting concluded with a firm resolve from both sides to elevate their existing friendly relations and mutual-interest-related defence cooperation to new heights in future.
