A special compilation episode of the popular television programme Ityadi, featuring memorable scenes from several past episodes, will air on Bangladesh Television on Friday after 8pm Bangla news.
The compilation will include portions of the Bandarban episode recorded in November 2019.
The colourful stage for that episode was built on the summit of Tiger Hill at Nilachal, surrounded by Bandarban’s hills, waterfalls, rivers, forests and diverse indigenous cultural heritage.
The episode is also significant as it marked the final television performance of late veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman and senior actor Masud Ali Khan.
Shamsuzzaman returned before the television camera through a drama segment in the Bandarban episode after suffering from prolonged illness.
He fell ill again a few days after filming and later died at his home while undergoing treatment. The segment became the final acting appearance of both actors.
The Bandarban episode featured reports on the district’s history, heritage, natural beauty and tourist attractions.
It also included a report on the introduction of old-age allowances through the personal initiative of Chanchal Kanti Chakma, an educational report on a teacher’s family from Fulchhari in Gaibandha, and an awareness report on the environment of several important beaches around the world.
The special episode will feature a love song performed by Bangla singer Akhi Alamgir and Marma singer Man Man Singh.
The song was written by lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, composed by Hanif Sanket and arranged by Mehedi.
More than 100 dancers from Bandarban’s 11 indigenous communities and the Bengali community will also perform to a song highlighting the region’s green landscape and cultural diversity.
The compilation will further include satirical drama segments addressing social irregularities and contemporary events, along with the regular Nani-Nati, Mama-Bhagne, audience participation and letters sections.
