On Wednesday, a caller from Muslim Nagar under Fatullah Police Station in Narayanganj phoned the national emergency service number 999 to report that a teacher at Tahsinul Quran Madrasa had allegedly sexually assaulted a 17‑year‑old boy.
The caller said locals had beaten the teacher and confined him, and requested immediate police action.
The 999 call was received by Constable Al Amin, while Police Dispatcher ASI Tarun Kumar Acharya maintained continuous contact with the relevant police station. Fatullah Police Station was immediately alerted to take necessary measures.
According to case details, madrasa student Ahad, 17 was taken at night to the madrasa bathroom, gagged with a towel, threatened, and allegedly assaulted by teacher Rafiqul Islam.
Upon receiving the report, a team from Fatullah Police Station quickly reached the scene and, with the help of locals, arrested the accused, Md Rafiqul Islam, 28, from Borunda village, Tongibari upazila, Munshiganj. Rafiqul was residing at Muslim Nagar Tahsinul Quran Madrasa in Fatullah, Narayanganj. He was taken into custody and brought to the police station.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
