Director Rashid Palash has unveiled the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Rongbazar’, offering audiences a stark look at a hidden and controversial side of society. The trailer was released today through the official social media platforms of the film’s production company, Live Technologies.
Following its release, the trailer quickly drew attention online, sparking discussion and curiosity among viewers for its unflinching subject matter. Palash said the trailer marks the beginning of the film’s release campaign and confirmed that Rongbazar will arrive in cinemas soon.
According to the director, the film goes beyond conventional storytelling and aims to reflect a harsh social reality often kept out of public view. Rongbazar centres on events surrounding the demolition of a brothel, a theme that places the film firmly within sensitive and taboo territory.
The team shot much of the film at the Daulatdia brothel, one of the country’s most talked-about red-light districts. The real-life location lends the project a strong sense of authenticity and grounds its narrative in lived experience.
Piya Jannatul plays the female lead, while Shampa Reza, Nazneen Chumki and Tanjika Amin appear as sex workers. Mousumi Hamid takes on the role of a drug dealer, with Lutfor Rahman George and Barada Mithu portraying political figures.
Golam Rabbani wrote the screenplay based on a story and concept by Tamjid Atul.
