Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited has increased internet speeds by up to three times across all existing packages while keeping monthly charges unchanged, aiming to improve digital services for customers.
The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology disclosed the decision in a notice issued on Sunday.
The notice said customers will now receive significantly faster internet at the same cost, which is expected to support online education, official work, video streaming, gaming and the use of smart digital services.
Under the revision, the Tk399 ‘Sulav-5’ package, which previously offered 5 Mbps, has been upgraded to 20 Mbps and renamed ‘Sashroyi-20’.
The Tk500 ‘Sulav-12’ package has been increased to 25 Mbps, while the Tk500 ‘Campus-15’ package has been upgraded to 50 Mbps and rebranded as ‘Campus-50’.
Among the mid-range offerings, the Tk800 ‘Sulav-15’ package now provides 50 Mbps, the Tk1,050 ‘Sulav-20’ package has been raised fivefold to 100 Mbps, and the Tk1,150 ‘Sulav-25’ package now delivers 120 Mbps.
The notice also said the Tk1,300 ‘Sulav-30’ package has been upgraded to 130 Mbps as ‘Sashroyi-130’, the Tk1,500 ‘Sulav-40’ package has been upgraded to 150 Mbps as ‘Sashroyi-150’, and the Tk1,700 ‘Sulav-50’ package has been converted into the 170 Mbps ‘Sashroyi-170’ package.
BTCL said the initiative will help ensure more reliable, faster and better-quality internet services while contributing to the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
