Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on people across the country to join efforts to prevent dengue and keep Bangladesh clean. He also urged citizens to work together for change.
He was speaking at the launch of a nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday morning.
“If we want to build the country together, no obstacle can stop us. Let us keep ourselves healthy, let us keep society healthy,” he said.
He added that dedicating just one hour a week to cleanliness would bring visible improvement.
Urging people not to litter indiscriminately, the prime minister stressed that every citizen has a role in building a clean nation. “On 5 August 2024, the people showed that change is possible. Now let us change the state itself,” he said.
Before the programme, he visited stalls and exchanged greetings with members of the public.
The campaign will run for three months, from 12 September to 12 December.
