The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce gold prices in the domestic market following three consecutive price hikes. The organisation lowered the rate by Tk2,741 per bhori, fixing the price of 22-carat gold at Tk2,26,923 per bhori, inclusive of VAT.
The announcement was made in a press release issued on Friday morning, with the new rates coming into effect from 10am. Prior to this reduction, BAJUS had increased gold prices three times in a row.
According to the revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk2,16,717 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,86,099 per bhori, and gold produced under the traditional method at Tk1,52,040 per bhori.
The press release stated that the decision was taken considering the overall situation following a drop in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.
