Dhallywood’s 2027 calendar is already taking shape, with Shakib Khan leading the Eid race and filmmakers pitching everything from revenge dramas to supernatural mysteries and space romances. Announcements are coming months ahead of the festive seasons, but with much of the production work still pending, which films will actually reach cinemas remains the big question.
Mehedi Hasan Hridoy’s Nissho is targeting Eid-ul-Fitr, marking his second collaboration with Shakib Khan after their 2025 blockbuster Borbaad. The action-romance-revenge drama will star Kolkata actress Idhika Paul opposite Shakib, with the success of their previous outing already fuelling interest.
Another Eid-ul-Fitr contender is Naseeb, announced by producer Arshad Adnan and director Mohammad Iqbal. Although the makers have revealed little, reports suggest Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi may play the antagonist.
Shakib’s Soldier could also join the line-up, although director Shakeeb Fahad has yet to complete shooting.
Another major Eid-ul-Fitr contender is Khalnayak, directed by Vicky Zahed and starring Afran Nisho in the lead role. Tama Mirza will play the female lead, while Mehazabien Chowdhury is set to make a guest appearance. The cast also includes Chanchal Chowdhury, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Intekhab Dinar and Kolkata actress Priyanka Sarkar. The film is reportedly targeting an Eid-ul-Fitr 2027 release.
Another film targeting an Eid-ul-Fitr release is Abar Dekha Holo, directed by Shankha Dasgupta. Chanchal Chowdhury and Nazifa Tushi will reunite on screen, joined by Siam Ahmed in a key role and Bijori Barkatullah. Produced jointly by Frame Per Second and Chorki, the film is scheduled to begin shooting outside Dhaka on 10 November. However, Tushi has not confirmed her involvement, saying she is in talks with several directors about upcoming projects.
Shakib will return for Eid-ul-Azha with Mohabbat, directed by Himel Ashraf and produced by Arshad Adnan. Following Priyotoma and Rajkumar, the trio are reuniting after more than two years. Popular film-review YouTuber Rasheduzzaman Rakib, is writing the screenplay.
A newly unveiled poster hints at romance, action and mystery. Himel says love sometimes demands a price, whether a promise or a battle, describing the film as a new journey with a new story. Following Priyotoma, expectations are high for his next collaboration with Shakib.
Also targeting Eid-ul-Azha is Kanabhulo Paradox, based on Mohaieminul Islam Bappy’s 2022 novel of the same name. Blending Bengali ghost folklore, science fiction and time travel, it marks the directorial debut of Ayman Asib Shadhin and Susmoy Sarkar. Sariful Razz and Sabila Nur will play the central characters, with Tanim Noor producing.
Raihan Rafi’s Andhar, featuring Siam Ahmed, Chanchal Chowdhury and Nazifa Tushi, could arrive on 26 March 2027, Independence Day.
Tanim Noor has also teased a new film following Utshob and Bonolota Express. His mysterious social media image showed a door marked ‘Majnu Enterprise’, with ‘Proprietor — Tanim Noor’ and ‘Coming 2027’. The story is still being written, and the cast remains undecided.
Meanwhile, Tanim Rahman Anshu is returning to direction after a long break with Limbo, a large-scale space-based science-fiction project. Described by the director as among Bangladesh’s first of its kind, it will combine cosmic romance with relationship drama and emphasise visual effects. A 2027 release is the target.
