Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has met with the family of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka‑8.
Hadi’s brother Abu Bakar Siddiq, sister Masuma, and three Inqilab Mancha leaders — Abdullah Al Jaber, Fatema Tasnim Juma, and Md Borhan Uddin — met with the chief adviser at the state guesthouse Jamuna on Saturday morning.
The chief adviser assured that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure Hadi’s best possible treatment.
He said, “The entire nation is praying for him. Everyone is trying to ensure he receives the highest level of care. Considering his physical condition, if he needs to be sent abroad, the government will arrange treatment wherever necessary.”
Hadi’s sister said, “He (Hadi) has loved this country deeply since childhood. He has always been a revolutionary. ‘Bidrohi’ is his favourite poem, and he loved reciting it. He has a 10‑month‑old child. Hadi is our backbone.”
“He has so much work left to do — he must survive. You are a revolutionary government; you must keep the July revolutionaries alive at any cost. Otherwise, the country’s independence and sovereignty will be at risk,” she added.
Demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrators, Inqilab Mancha leader Jaber said, “After 5 August many people returned home, but Hadi did not. He embodied the July uprising and worked day and night for it. The boy who shot him — we hear he had been arrested in a case earlier. Please investigate how he obtained bail.”
Fatema Tasnim Juma urged the government to ensure overall security for the July fighters.
Stating that the entire network behind such an attack will be identified and brought to justice, Chief Adviser Yunus said, “Law enforcement agencies are actively working to arrest the perpetrators as quickly as possible. A full investigation has already been ordered, with instructions to analyse every detail of the incident.”
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, Environment, Forest and Climate Adviser Rizwana Hasan, Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman were also present.
