A video allegedly showing an attempt to hang a child as punishment for misbehaviour has gone viral on social media in Radhanagar village of Ramnagar Union in Faridpur’s Nagarkanda Upazila, sparking widespread concern and criticism.

Locals said the child’s father is currently living in Oman. They alleged that the mother resorted to harsh disciplinary measures following an incident involving the child’s alleged misbehaviour.

In the video, the child appears to be subjected to an attempted hanging and is heard pleading through tears, saying, “Let me go, mother, let me go.”

Several neighbours outside the house were seen attempting to break open doors and windows in an effort to rescue the child.

Local residents also claimed that the child’s father was connected via a video call during the incident. The video’s circulation on social media has triggered widespread concern among local residents.

Nagarkanda Police Station Officer-in-charge Rasul Samdani Azad said both the child and the woman had been brought to the police station, adding that necessary legal action would be taken after an investigation into the incident.
