Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed Ferdousy Ahmed Misty, a reserved-seat Member of Parliament, to resign from her parliamentary post, several media outlets reported.

The possibility of her resignation came to the forefront following the demolition of Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur in the capital.

The health facility was attacked, vandalised and looted around midnight on 24 September. Allegations subsequently emerged of the involvement of leaders and activists of the ruling party at various levels.

According to media reports, Misty faced controversy and allegations over her past political activities. During her time as a ward councillor, she was accused of extortion, terrorism and land grabbing, among other offences.

These allegations had repeatedly raised questions about her political role and activities.
