A student has died from burn injuries she sustained in an electrocution incident at a girls’ madrasa in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Jidni, 14, died at around 6am in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The death toll from the incident has now risen to two.
She was among five students who suffered burn injuries while playing on the madrasa rooftop on Saturday.
Sultan Mahmud, Resident Surgeon of the Emergency Department at the burn institute, confirmed her death, saying Jidni had sustained 82 per cent burns.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, 11-year-old Atiya died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, 13-year-old Lamia remains in critical condition in the ICU with 55 per cent burns. Two other students, Achiya and Sumaiya, who sustained comparatively minor burns, are in stable condition and have been shifted to the general ward, according to Sultan.
