The price of gold in Bangladesh rose on Wednesday morning after the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) made two consecutive downward adjustments.
According to a BAJUS notification, the price of 22-carat gold increased by Tk2,216 a bhori to Tk2,30,772, including value-added tax.
The latest increase came after BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 a bhori to Tk2,28,556 on Tuesday and by Tk2,158 a bhori to Tk2,30,772 on Monday.
BAJUS said the latest adjustment followed changes in the local market price of refined gold.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold now costs Tk2,20,391 a bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk1,89,248 a bhori.
Gold produced through the traditional method now costs Tk1,54,606 a bhori.
With Wednesday’s revision, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 120 times so far this year, including 59 increases, 60 decreases and one adjustment related to VAT.
The association, however, kept silver prices unchanged on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat silver remains Tk4,315 a bhori, including VAT.
Meanwhile, 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver remain priced at Tk4,140, Tk3,557 and Tk2,682 a bhori respectively.
