The University of Asia Pacific (UAP), in collaboration with AVIANOMICS, on Monday organised a seminar titled “Aviation Profession in Bangladesh – Opportunities, Emerging Trends and Career Pathways” at the UAP Auditorium in Farmgate, Dhaka.
KM Mozibul Hoque, chairman of the Board of Trustees of UAP, attended the programme as chief guest, while Md Saiyed Bin Abdullah, special assistant to the prime minister on youth employment, was present as special guest, reads a press release.
Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, acting vice-chancellor of UAP, chaired the event. The keynote address was delivered by Prasanta Kumar Chakraborty, aviation expert, ICAO-certified instructor, founder of AVIANOMICS and director of the Civil Aviation Academy, who joined as the lead speaker.
He said the aviation industry in Bangladesh is at a tipping point, citing the expansion of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, internationalisation of Cox’s Bazar Airport and increasing global connectivity.
He said country would require a large number of skilled aviation professionals in the coming decade, adding that aviation is no longer limited to pilots and cabin crew but has evolved into a high-tech sector involving engineers, data analysts and managers.
The seminar highlighted the importance of industry-academia collaboration. UAP and AVIANOMICS announced a strategic partnership to offer specialised training, guest lectures and internship opportunities in aviation management, aeronautical engineering and aviation safety.
Speaking at the event, Saiyed said students should begin planning their careers early instead of waiting until graduation.
He also encouraged entrepreneurship, saying it could create opportunities for both individuals and others, and added that the government would provide full support to emerging entrepreneurs.
Mozibul said UAP remains committed to bridging academic knowledge with industrial application. He said the collaboration with AVIANOMICS reflects that vision and aims to introduce certificate courses, workshops and placement support to prepare students for the industry.
Mohiuddin said the seminar had highlighted diverse career pathways ranging from flight operations and air law to drone technology and green aviation. He added that UAP plans to integrate aviation-related modules into its curricula and explore the introduction of a minor in Aviation Management.
More than 300 students, faculty members and professionals attended the seminar, which concluded with a question-and-answer session on scholarships, certifications and artificial intelligence in aviation, followed by a vote of thanks from the UAP Department of Business Administration.
