Uber on Tuesday launched Uber Parcel, an on-demand delivery service enabling users to send documents, essentials and other eligible packages through the Uber app, expanding beyond ride-hailing to include parcel delivery.
The service offers GPS-enabled real-time tracking and a PIN verification system to ensure parcels reach the intended recipient, said a press release.
Users can request a pickup on demand or schedule one in advance. The service supports sending documents, office materials, vendor supplies, customer orders, gifts and personal belongings.
Uber Bangladesh Country General Manager Redwan Rezvi said the service expands beyond moving people to helping move things that matter. “Whether it is an important document, a package for a customer or something a family member needs, Uber Parcel gives people a convenient and reliable way to send and receive eligible items,” he said.
The service also creates additional earning opportunities for drivers through bike-based parcel deliveries.
