Two siblings died on the same day in Satkhira after the elder brother suffered a stroke upon hearing of his younger brother’s death.
The deceased were Abdul Karim, 56, and his younger brother Abdul Gafur. The incident occurred in Bhaluka Chandpur union under Satkhira Sadar upazila.
Family members said Gafur, who had been battling cancer, died while undergoing treatment at Satkhira Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning.
Upon receiving the news at home, Karim was overcome with grief and collapsed. Locals rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Confirming the matter, Shafiqul Islam, Inspector (investigation) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said the two brothers were sons of the late Abul Kashem.
Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, chairman of Dhulihar Union Parishad, expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
