Three people including a woman and her daughter died of electrocution in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred in Barghoria Badurtala area of Sadar upazila, said Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-charge Ekramul Hossain.
Barghoria Union Parishad Chairman Harunur Rashid said the deceased were Hasina Begum, wife of Mohammad Bhikhur of Badurtala; her daughter Mim Khatun; and her niece Asha Khatun.
OC Ekramul said a metal ladder at their home had become electrified after getting wet in the rain. While climbing the ladder, Asha and Mim were electrocuted. As Hasina tried to save them, she too was electrocuted and died on the spot.
Police later recovered the three bodies from the scene.
