Rajkummar Rao is busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’, which is set to hit theatres soon. The actor recently appeared on Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’ with co-star Wamiqa Gabbi and former Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, writes NDTV.
During the 25 September episode, the trio shared anecdotes with Bachchan. Rao recalled his early days in Mumbai after moving from Delhi and revealed how he would stand outside Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat just to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
Speaking about their shared Delhi connection, Rao said he had decided at a young age to pursue acting. He also recalled that a poster of Bachchan had always been in his mother’s room and that the veteran actor had inspired him.
Rao said Shah Rukh’s journey also inspired him. He admired how the Delhi boy from a middle-class family started with theatre and television before becoming a major Bollywood star.
Rao added that when he first came to Mumbai for a show, he was not selected but still went to Mannat and stood outside Shah Rukh’s home.
Bachchan then shared his own experience of working with Shah Rukh. He praised the actor for never giving up and said Shah Rukh has a way of boosting the confidence of people around him.
Directed by Avinash Arun, ‘Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ explores the legal battles handled by public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab forming a major part of the story.
Rao plays Nikam in the film, which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on 16 October 2026.
Maddock Films is also set to unveil the trailer on 29 September at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a location linked to the 26/11 attacks.
