Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has greeted the Hindu community on the occasion of Janmashtami, the day marking the birth of Lord Krishna.

In a message issued on Friday, Tarique Rahman praised Lord Krishna for establishing justice, truth and welfare by suppressing injustice and misrule, describing the religious festival as a symbol of unity and brotherhood. His statement was conveyed in a BNP press release signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, reports BSS.

“The teachings and deeds of Lord Krishna inspire oppressed people everywhere to resist tyranny and injustice,” Tarique said, adding that Krishna’s message continues to resonate with those struggling for justice.

Extending his warm wishes, the BNP leader wished peace, prosperity and well-being for the Hindu community. He noted that the essence of all religions is to uphold peace, harmony and human welfare, and emphasised that religious tolerance remains an integral part of Bangladesh’s culture.

“People from all faiths have coexisted peacefully for centuries, and BNP is committed to preserving this tradition of mutual respect and unity among all communities,” he said.

Janmashtami, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated across the country on Saturday with due religious fervour.
