Over Tk16 lakh has been looted from a Krishi bank branch in Rupsha upazila under Khulna district.
The robbery took place sometimes between Thursday evening and 10pm on Friday, said Rupsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman.
He added that the incident came to light on Friday night after 10pm when the bank security guard found the main collapsible gate and the vault door broken. The police have collected CCTV footage from the area to investigate the theft.
Bank Manager Kamrul Islam said Tk16.16 lakh was found missing from the bank vault.
Three security guards named Afzal, Abul Kashem and Tariqul have been detained for interrogation.
