American journalist and media personality Don Lemon has strongly criticised Kanye West, also known as Ye, amid the rapper’s controversial comeback.
Speaking on his social media talk show, Lemon described West as “a whole minstrel show,” adding that he is “a bigot” and “an antisemite”.
Lemon also criticised West’s fans, particularly those who continue to support him while condemning R. Kelly, who is serving multiple decades in prison for racketeering and sex trafficking.
Adding, Lemon said, “If you are standing for Kanye, you’re standing for Trump,” referencing the rapper’s past support for the former US president.
West recently held two sold-out concerts in Los Angeles, his first major US performances in years, despite controversy surrounding his antisemitic remarks, including a song titled “Heil Hitler,” for which he issued a public apology in January.
Kanye was also scheduled to headline the UK’s Wireless Festival in July, but was barred from travelling and the festival was subsequently cancelled.
