Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister AZM Zahid Hossain has affirmed the government’s commitment to transforming children residing in state-run homes (Sarkari Shishu Paribar) into independent national assets rather than societal burdens.
The minister made these remarks on Friday evening during an unannounced visit to a government-operated children’s facility located at Modern Mor in Rangpur city.
Emphasising a zero-tolerance stance, Zahid cautioned that any form of corruption involving the welfare of children would be strictly prohibited.
He noted the government’s resolve to elevate the quality of life for underprivileged children by providing essential facilities, ensuring they do not feel isolated or lacking in familial support.
Throughout the inspection, the minister spoke directly with the children regarding their academic progress, future ambitions, healthcare, nutrition, and the general cleanliness of their environment.
Following these discussions, he issued specific instructions to the relevant authorities to address identified needs.
