Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said on Monday that he does not consider the recently held national parliamentary election to be fair.
However, he accepted the results to prevent political deadlock and safeguard the country’s interests.
Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks while exchanging Eid greetings with villagers and party activists at his residence in Bhatera, Kulaura upazila.
Speaking on public concerns regarding the election outcome, he said, “Many citizens voted for one party, yet another party formed the government. This raises questions, and various organizations have expressed concern over the matter.”
Addressing BNP, he warned, “If you do not return to the right path, remember that the events of July are not long past. People across the country were active participants then, and they will not forgive injustice. We do not want your fate to mirror that of past fascist regimes.”
Jamaat ameer also called for accountability in governance, saying, “If the government begins to see itself as the owner of state resources, the public will not accept it.
Every institution and asset of the state has been built with the blood and sweat of the people. Luxury should not be the focus-public service must remain the government’s primary goal.”
