Seven minors were detained for attempting to cast fake votes at a polling centre in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj on Thursday.
The incident took place in the morning at the Bagh Hata Government Primary School polling centre.
According to officials, several teenagers arrived at the centre together to vote. On-duty officials grew suspicious after noticing a mismatch between their apparent age and the voter slips they were carrying.
They were immediately detained. All seven are residents of the same locality.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Mahamuda Begum Sathi confirmed the matter. She said all those detained are underage and are currently in administrative custody.
The UNO added that necessary action will be taken against them after the completion of voting.
