European Union members conducted inspections of the election environment across various upazilas in Madaripur on Thursday.
During their visit, the observers monitored the overall situation and engaged in discussions with presiding officers, the Election Commission, and returning officers. They also gathered information regarding various polling centres and the local electorate.
The European Union members expressed their satisfaction after observing the current situation. In response, the Election Commission, returning officers, and presiding officers assured the visiting team of their full cooperation to ensure a free and fair election.
Eva Molt and Lars Jirung Fordal, long-term observers and members of the European Union team, stated that they have visited the three constituencies of Madaripur. They noted that the overall situation remains positive thus far.
These two members of the team have been travelling throughout different areas of Madaripur for one month. Following the conclusion of the election, a preliminary report will be submitted on 14 February, with a full report to be provided two months later.
A total of 25 candidates are set to compete across the three parliamentary seats in Madaripur. Out of 381 polling centres in the district, the returning officer has designated 224 as vulnerable, while the remaining 157 centres have been identified as general.
The district has a total of 1,148,327 voters. This figure includes 595,308 male voters, 553,007 female voters, and 12 voters identified as hijra.
