Ismail Hossain Mahin spoke with emotion after Bangladesh won the SAFF Under 20 Football Championship. The young goalkeeper shared his feelings right after the final. He said, “Saving the first shot felt amazing. I felt like I was about to fulfill the dream of 200 million people.”

Mahin played a key role in the shootout. The final against India ended without goals in regular time. The match went to penalties. Mahin saved India’s first shot. That moment gave Bangladesh the advantage. They went on to win 4-3.

Mahin also performed well throughout the tournament. He stayed calm and made important saves in each match. His display earned him the best player award.

Bangladesh also found extra joy in beating India in the final. Captain Mithu Chowdhury had said this before the match. His team wanted to win the title for the country, and they did it.

Ashikur Rahman missed the final due to injury. He got hurt in the group stage match against India. After the win, Mithu remembered his teammate. He said, “Winning the final. I have wanted this for four years. Allah has given it to us today. But I really miss one person. My friend Ashik. We have played together for four or five matches. For four years. If he was here, the joy would be greater. Even then, I want to dedicate this trophy to him.”

Abdul Riyad Fahim also played his part. He scored in the shootout. After the match, he said, “Dream final. Alhamdulillah. First of all, thanks to Allah. Today we became champions. We dedicate this win to the whole country.”
