Casemiro scored for the third straight match as Inter Miami held Chicago Fire to a 1-1 draw in MLS at Soldier Field on Thursday.
Robert Lewandowski gave Chicago an early lead before Casemiro brought Miami level from a Lionel Messi assist in the second half.
Chicago went ahead in the 10th minute. Andrew Gutman created space before sending a cross towards the far post. Lewandowski met it and found the net to make it 1-0.
The 38-year-old has now scored in three straight matches. He has six goals in nine MLS appearances.
Messi looked for an equaliser in the 23rd minute, but Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady comfortably saved his effort from outside the box.
Brady denied Messi again in the 41st minute. The Argentine got past D’Avilla Dje Tah before shooting from the edge of the box, but the goalkeeper kept him out.
Inter Miami finally found their equaliser in the 48th minute.
Messi delivered a corner and Casemiro rose to head the ball home. It was the Brazilian’s third consecutive match with a goal.
The equaliser came shortly after Chicago defender Noah Allen made an important clearance to deny German Berterame.
Neither side could find a winner as the points were shared in front of 63,094 spectators, a club record attendance for Chicago Fire.
Inter Miami moved to 44 points from 24 matches. Chicago have 39 points from 23 games and extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.
