Police in Los Angeles have detained a woman after gunfire was reported near the Beverly Hills residence of pop star Rihanna, authorities and local media said on Sunday.
Officers were called to the property at around 1:20 pm local time amid reports that a number of gunshots had been fired in the vicinity. According to local outlets including the Los Angeles Times, radio transmissions indicated that roughly ten shots were discharged from a vehicle parked across the street from the gated home.
A 30‑year‑old woman was taken into custody at the scene after police arrived. A source familiar with the situation told the Times that the singer was inside the house at the time, but that no one was hurt and there were no reported injuries.
Representatives for Rihanna and the Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
While details remain limited, the quick response by law enforcement helped avert a more serious outcome. Officers secured the area and conducted initial enquiries around the property following the incident.
Rihanna, one of the most successful and influential artists in contemporary music, has a large global following and is known for her chart‑topping hits as well as her work in fashion and beauty, including her Fenty brand.
The motive behind the shooting has not yet been made public as police continue their investigation.
