Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man from a pond in the Charparboti Union of Companiganj Upazila, Noakhali.
Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nurul Hakim confirmed the matter on Friday. The body was recovered from a pond adjacent to the Meherunnessa High School. Due to the state of decomposition, it is suspected that the individual died several days ago.
According to local sources, irrigation work was being carried out in the pond to facilitate fishing. As the water level receded, several workers began clearing water hyacinths and discovered a body lying beneath the thick vegetation.
Upon receiving the news, police quickly arrived at the spot and recovered the body. OC Nurul stated that details will be known after the investigation.
