Police detained a woman on suspicion of involvement in a double murder in Pahartali, Cox’s Bazar.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed the matter on Thursday. The detainee has been identified as Rashida, 36. She is reported to be the sister of Babul and Babul is a cousin of the deceased Ashraf..
OC Ali said, “Rashida is being interrogated. Police operations are ongoing to identify and arrest others involved in the incident. For the sake of the investigation, it is not possible to provide further details now.”
Earlier, a clash broke out between two groups around 12:30am on Tuesday, stemming from a previous dispute over a mobile phone. Three individuals were seriously injured during the altercation.
The injured were rescued and taken to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared Mohammad Hridoy, 28, dead. Two others, Mohammad Ashraf alias Asif, 28, and Ashraful Islam, 20, were then sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Ashraf passed away while undergoing treatment there.
